We set out to make a profit making cake pop arrangements to sell to the JMU community. We have made $298.00 in profit so far, and there is more to come! We have made a variety of unique and creative arrangements.
Initially we set out to sell them individually and found that the cost, time, and effort was not worth the amount of money we were making. So we pivoted, changed our focus to making arrangements so we could make a larger amount of money in one transaction. Our advice is to make a product that appeals to a large market. It's easier to make a profit within a shorter amount of time, than in a niche market if you reach a large market. Lastly, have fun

This past week we had four orders to make. A professor ordered customized pumpkin and spider cake pops for his daughter. A peer ordered cheesecake balls for himself. An apartment complex ordered 40 chocolate and vanilla flavored cake balls for a party they put on for the residents. Meagan took an order to her mentor group for National Society of Leadership and Success. This coming week we have an order for speakers coming to Madison Marketing Association's resume review. We are also donating an order to Madison Marketing Associations Networking Banquet to be raffled off, this will give us data to see how many people want our product and advertising for our business. We are also going to make a new MVP at the end of the week, we have ideas that we are going to try out and see which one is best. We still cannot seem to figure out what our target market is, everyone is buying our cake pops so we do not know where to put our focus. We believe that we will figure it out as time goes on and more people have purchased our product.

Through our customer discoveries with different organizations we have learned that our cake pop idea is very new to the organizations. They usually order pizza or subs for their events and meetings, but they believe cake pops are a great new idea which they believe would differentiate them while recruiting new members. They all worry about budget but we are more than willing to work with all organizations budgets. This is one of our competitive advantages, we are able to work with people money wise and with customization of the cake pops. We are now focusing specifically on organizations that are school sponsored since they do have more money.

We have calculated our cost and revenue so far. We have a revenue of $143.00 and an expense of $153.52! Only $10.00 till we break-even!
